Seashell

Emi

Like a seashell in the sand

You brought me up into your hand

For a second there you stand

Staring at your newfound reward

Should I just be discarded?

Or should I be kept and guarded?

Forever neglected, or regarded?

My fate is in your hands

You put me safe in your pocket

Like a picture in a locket

My heart goes off like a rocket

Lifting off from Earth

You place me in a seashell pile

As regarded as a floor tile

With a bright, happy smile

You turn away and leave

I am just another token

A fact utterly unspoken

A seashell left unbroken

Only for you to break
