Oops! Sorry again …
Hold on! Let me explain …
Can’t really stop this rain,
Emanating from the pain
I cry because I’m happy
To see you smile so cheerfully
Amidst the trial and agony
Of this cancerous cacophony
I never thought he’d do it
Picked up his pride and did it
That moment we all loved it
The day the ‘betel nut’ said it
My late father would’ve been here
So would the brother I loved so dear
Grinning and smiling from ear to ear
As I spoke the verses for all to hear
Now that you are married
It just simply adds more merit
to our family so diverse and varied
And the legacy for him to inherit

- Comment from author about the poem: ‘Betel Nut’ (buah pinang) refers to the symbolic gift of betel nut and leaf (sireh) during engagement ceremonies (upacara meminang). My daughter Ummu Aiamn Izzati Huzaidi (Yes the same student doctor who is undergoing post-operation chemotherapy) has just been married to Abdul Salam Embong (an aspiring student of the Quranic Sciences in the holy city of Medina, Saudi Arabia). My late father Hashim Abdullah, and late brother Hazni Hashim would’ve been just as proud to see her happiness on that momentous day!

Wow. I wish them all the best. This is a beautiful, slightly intriguing blessing, depiction and tribute to your precious daughter's marriage. I enjoyed it.
