I'm Poetic

Alexandre Landsley

If I was a magician

I'll be pulling a thousand rabbits out of one hat

But since I'm poetic

I am pulling my words out of thin air

And laying them down right here on this paper, like there

Aren't I artistic? I'm not pulling a rainbow of tissues out of your ear

But rare words out of my mind so you can hear

Now tell me, how is that for a magic trick

Aren't my rhymes so slick? and my metaphors purely sick?

Or should I be more romantic

And write about how love made me chaotic

Took me to war, made the pen as my sword and the paper as my shield

And when hungry I served them hate as a meal on the battlefield

I kill! I kill! I swear I will kill

But then again, I'm only being poetic.

Ah, but I really like this! Wonderful depiction of the writer and especially the poet!!! The metaphor of magic is excellent in the power words have to carry the listener and reader elsewhere; words are not so harmless. Beautiful and delightful tribute to poetry and writing, the power of the pen indeed!
