Cleanliness

iceman43

I haven't showered, shaved

Or brushed my teeth

In over a week.

I haven't even changed

My underwear.

What a pig I am.

I'm not going out anywhere

So there is no one to offend.

They say cleanliness

Is next to Godliness.

What is filthiness next to?

That's where I'm at

And I'm loving it.

That's not to say I'm here to stay,

I think I can last one more day.

All good things must come to an end.

Tomorrow I get back to Godliness.

Filthiness has completed its run.

Shower and shave and brush my teeth,

Can't forget to change my underwear.

That's the way to start a new week.

Ah yes, Cleanliness is what I seek.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I have never really gone a week. A couple of days possibly, after that I cannot stand myself, let alone be with other people.
