Temptation

MsMermaid

"Why doest thou bother thy pretty head?"

Said He

"Just count on me instead.

Bring thy sisters, come play with me

And I'll take care of them and thee,

Yes, I'll take care of all three.

"Good sir, why would you offer this?"

Said she

With pouting lips to kiss.

"The very thought could bring such bliss,

But sir, I feel there's something amiss.

Good sir, what could it be?"

"Amiss? Sweet lass, don't trouble thy mind.

Come play and leave all doubts behind.

There's nothing here but pleasure to find

For me and all of thee."

So Peace and Love and Common Sense

Went with the devil behind his fence

And now the world pays recompense

For having lost all three.

HI MERMAID - Thanks for sharing an important warning against the guiles of the Devil - He loves to play with our emotions. The GOOD BOOK says "Resist the Devil and he will flee from you".

This old world is very short on Real Peace - True Love - Common Sence ! I Satan had his way he would replace them with Srtife - Lust & Ignorance. Loved your use of "Old English" in the poem - BRIAN
