As we drive further into the village

all the happiness and beauty ends

everthing that used to live,

is now dead.

all I see if dirt and old houses

and it appears nobody's here either.

the only thing greeting us is the

not-so-friendly sign next to the burnt tree.

"get out of here", "leave"

the sign screams to me

but of course, we don't listen

and we proceed

  • Comment from author about the poem: To understand this poem, you most look at it with an open mind. If you just read it, it may sound like the beginning of a horror story, but in reality, its meaning quite different. Personally, to me, it\'s life. There comes a time in our life in which darkness and sadness overcomes us, but we find the courage to go on (and face everything that is to come).
