The Shade

Reivax Camlost

There was a crow

He followed me

Outside

Inside

Everywhere

His call a cry

To death, defy

Always

Sometimes

Not at all

There was a shade

With wings of midnight black

Flutter

Fly

Flap

It was nearer than

Always watching me

Without

Within

Withall

Dreadful his eye

Unpleasant, to lie

Sweet

Dark

Death

I saw the deadly crow

breathing in the dark

Silent

Final

                                                                  Breath

It was some shade

Im sure of it

Silent

Waiting

watching

Death incarnate

Over me

Outside

Inside

everywhere

  • Comment from author about the poem: I tend to write what I feel. Ever felt that something was following you? A shadow of death? I once felt that way. I looked to the sky, and there upon a tree branch sat a crow, watching me.
