I live in the 21st Century.
Where men believe that their biggest plight is a woman telling them “no”
I live in the 21st Century.
Where women don’t stay with the good men long enough to see them grow
I live in the 21st Century.
Where more teenagers are having babies, rather than enrolling in college
I live in the 21st Century.
Where gay marriage is legal, but there’s that one person trying to fight it
I live in the 21st Century.
Where selling drugs makes you a “real nigga”, but not the college degree
I live in the 21st Century.
Where Momma is beating the kids because Daddy didn’t want to be
I live in the 21st Century.
Where I am forced to exist
I live in the 21st Century.
Where people can change, but don’t want to lift;
A finger to make tomorrow better than today
But I will never stop fighting because this….
Is not Okay.
I am changing the 21st Century.
