Goodbye Dad

katey1804

Coming home to an empty room
I can see him packing, leaving out the door
But I was so sure
He wouldn't be staying for once more
So I realize that he had left
Left a wife & four kids at rest
House so quiet yet so cold
And that is when she told
How my dad had left
She expects us at our best
To keep a smile oh cheery face
And telling us, he's a waste
Sister crying, brothers yelling
Now it is clear to see, that I will never be
Oh so happy, oh so cheery
Oh ever so weary am I
With that I said I just really want to go to bed
My pillow catches all my tears
And the darkness catches all my fears
So quiet in the lonely room
From there I say
I want to lay
Far away
In a deep sleep
So I may not weep
About how my dad had left

HI KATEY - Welcome to My Poetic Side = Good site - awesome poems - nice poets. Love you first poem (despite its sad content). It is replete with rhyme and rhythm - easy to read nie to recite. We all face traumas in our lives but the worse is the death or the deertion of a MUM or DAD. Thanks for sharing and caring - BRIAN
