This poem was written by an unknown man, he was homeless and selling poems he had written for change; this was one of his poems that you can directly see came straight from his heart and you can really feel what he feels.
" Sat on the edge ov society
Wonderin why am not a prioety
What's cum ov my life an cum ov me
My life's in tattoo's can't you see
beggin at the bank everyday
get a job get a life people say
I get no benefit's just what people give
i buy food + drink to help me live
I live on the street a dorway's my bed
People think am thick in the head
It's just me myself + I
nobody love's me do you know why
Dont I deserve to live with a smile
To make my life worth the while."

HI BEC-XS WELCOME TO My Poetic Side - excellent site. I worked with the YMCA (Foyer) and love poems from the heart by disadvantaged people and the poems in the Big Issue. Love the structure of the poem lots of rhythm and rhyming couplets. Nice to read and easy to recite. The content is familiar. Living on the edge - begging - no benefits - criticism - no love - no smile - no life. It asks a very poignant question "Nobody love's me do you know why". In my experience - these people are victims of an increasingly have & have not society. This is why in my Town we have a YMCA Foyer - Night Shelters - soup runs and food banks. Thanks for carin' an' sharin' BRIAN
