The ever breaking waves of tomorrow beckon me
They call me from the darkest caves and the deepest trenches
They call me from the brightest cities and the highest mountaintops
Asking me, pleading for an answer: “what is love?”
They cry out to me begging for a response
To which I give them this answer
Love is something that cannot be named nor perfectly described,
Not even the most beautiful of poems can even capture a fraction of the beauty of love,
Not even the most fragile of flower petals can perfectly symbolize the delicate nature of the heart,
Nor the most difficult and lengthy of labyrinths may encompass the complexity of love,
Love is the thing that one may desire the most without acknowledging that desire
Love is the thing that may turn one against another in order to bring two closer
Love is the thing most searched for without ever needing to move
Love is constructive by nature but destructive when used incorrectly
Because you see, love is not something that can ever be obtained, due to the fact that love is already here, in this place, in these people by our sides
For you see all of us were gifted with the power to love,
So we must use that love for the betterment of each other and our world,
Rather than the destruction of all and the downfall of society

WELCOME ROJO - TO A GREAT SITE ! Love your first poem - keep posting ! YES - Love is all around - in every sight and every sound and when we are in love the whole world really does sing a MELODY ! Perfect love cast out fear but (as you say) love is ephemeral and can pass us by. In my experience we discover love by being loving and reaching out in love everywhere and to everyone. Lovely message "What the World needs now is LOVE SWEET LOVE ! Thanks for caring and sharing - BRIAN
