How wrong of thee
Would it be
To compare it to dementia?
Because when they change
the pains the same
Then and forever after.
They lose that twinkle in their eye
Then the only questions left
Are the how's and the whys?
Why has this happened?
How could this happen?
To someone so perfect
So innocent
So kind
How could this person lose their mind?
The innocent one to never sin?
Against dementia
Even the kindest won't win.

- Comment from author about the poem: I wrote this poem after watching my nan suffer for many years with dementia. I watched it Tear away everything she knew and as mad as it sounds I always compared it to someone turning into a zombie the comparison being they still look like the person you love and cherish yet they couldn\'t be more different.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GEORGIA ~ LOVE BRIAN XOX Love this poem because it does put DEMENTIA into a framework ! People I know with Dementia are indeed jut like ZOMBIES and not like the people i knew.! The "eye twinkle" goes replaced by a blank stare ~ they are incoherent and talk gibberish etc ~ lovely people ~ wrongly wired ~ so sad. Your poem is cathartic ~ next time I visit my Uncle Jim ~ I will think ZOMBIE and perhaps it won't seem so bad. Great poem ~ difficult subject ~ BRIAN
