Within

DamagedButAlive

The fire within me is slowly burning through

The harsh reality of it all I always knew
That one day it won’t be as its always been
so tell me the place and when
That this will all be a faint memory if at all
I just wish it could be as it was when I could fall
And know that you would be there to catch me
so I sit here trying to change you and I plea
That maybe one day you will wake up and realize
that what if our love flickers and just dies
Would you even care if we had nothing left?

The way you got my heart was something like theft
now everything is so different what am I to think?
All I want to do is just hide in my own thoughts and sink.

WELCOME DBA and thanks for your first poem. Full of rhyme and rhythm (I love rhyming couplets !) but O so so sad. So many LOVE POEMS on MPS are tinged with sadness - does true love never run smooth ? I've been in similar situations when love (once so vibrant) just flickers and fades. Love your photo - I'd be there to catch you ! BRIAN
