The Deception

AMPLIFIED HEAT

He walks tall when many cannot

He brings strength where most times it is not

His promises will bring tears to those who laughed

and then argued he was not

Believe in him but I know you will not

You know the truth but I think not

Then he guides you but you think not

Then your soul is his and in fear you hope not

That's the fallen angel's secret

before he takes all hope and leaves you not

  • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks AH for a very challenging poem ! As Christians "We have this treasure in earthen vessels - that the Glory may be God's and not ours !" We must always remember this because (spiritual) pride is always proceded by a (spiritual) fall. We can avoid feeling hopeless and bereft (your closing line) if we always pin our HOPE on GOD and not MAN ! Thanks for caring and sharing - BRIAN

    • AMPLIFIED HEAT

Often I hear the debate "If God exist why does he let such terrible things happen?" I could go on for hours but what inspired this poem is that God had to create evil so we as people had a free choice to pick the god who would guide us here on earth. I never heard anybody say "why does the devil do these horrible things,?" it's always "Why does God do these thing". This is is usually follow by "How could God possibly exist?" and there lies the critical moment. The Devil is real and powerful and earth is his Kingdom. The tools he uses are the things we recognize everyday as wholesome. Food, drink, technology, sex drugs, money the list goes on endlessly. He has masked himself behind our basic instincts that help us survive and turned them into the seven deadly sins of pride, greed, lust, malicious envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth. The poem was written to make the devil appear to be God in every way and the "fallen angel" almost appears to be us, who have lost our love and understanding for God and maybe even question his wisdom by the inequities of man we see on earth. This is the "fallen Angels" greatest victory! We now begin to create a self serving agenda of a faith that serves us best, and serves our fellows less. The Devil now has his due. He slams the door as we aimlessly because "the distance is to far". The Greatest Deception is us refusing to believe the devil exist and he is more then willing to answer your prayers.

Thank you Brian, I will be reading more you poems soon - Take Care
