Stone Butterflies

Izzi Lynn

I'm all tied up inside
Shaking, trembling, nervous hands
Pinpoint pupils that contract and expand
Tiny imperfections in each breath

Knotted up inside
I'm frenzied
I have stone butterflies fluttering in my stomach

  • Comment from author about the poem: I wrote this right before my middle school play (I was in it, and this is my last year doing it at this school) I was really nervous about how this was my last year to do the middle school St. Cecilia play. I wanted it to be perfect, and it was.
