There was a girl who had depression
They tried to cure it with a therapy session
The medicine dazed her out she jus twanted to shout
She kept it all inside
Each night she cried and cried
She lit a joint before
Her head was in pieces a total war
She had no friends
And cut with snapped pens
Breathing was a effort and she was broken and down
She had a heavy frown
The river off tears fell
She wore a mask the fact she was hurting you could never tell
She needed support
Had more than one bad thought
But insanity why are you my clarity?such a broken society
Depression is a horrendous place
Trying to ligature with anything a shoe lace
Depression is back again
So hard to keep sane

WELCOME NATALIE - Your first poem has elegant structure - I love rhyming couplets - but such a sad and broken content. If it's autobiographical I am praying for you - it does sound true. Depression does lead us to drugs and self harm but that is not the answer. We all get depressed but I have a loving Family (Mum & Dad Brother and Sisters) and lots of friends. I do live alone (in a flat) so i have to be careful. If it's about your friend - then love her and be with her - if it's about you then love from Family & Friends is the best cure . Thanks for daring to share - Yours BRIAN
You have an army of support here because your words are heard here. I've been in your place and poetry was my outlet, I'm not out of the woods yet, this is your starting point and we're all here.
