No matter what people say, Bernie should stay in the race
He can't win the nom, but this is not about how to save face
Not sure if Vermont dude should stay. Maybe he should change his objective
Socialists alter the conversation, but of the Dem party he's not protective
Sanders' surprising candidacy seems to have achieved an ideological goal
Barack rewarded Hillary with a job, Bernie may be working from the same mold
Bernie fans must stay engaged and be convinced to switch stations
Hillary's campaign must avoid the cheesy look of a planned coronation
People remember how McCain's early win made his campaign turn ice cold
Timing is everything. Diff between winning and losing is when you strike gold
New York polls claim the competition made two-thirds of voters feel energized
A closer look suggests Bernie's people won't be excited about switching ties
Frankly, the Berners are less than thrilled about rallying to Hill's candidacy
But to decide if the Vermont man should bow out, we should look to history
Bitter, divisive campaigns tend to favor the party not in power.
Voters lean toward new kid on the block. The incumbent's game goes sour
Sanders pulls Hillary far to the left, and not everyone Feels The Bern
HRC looks like the sitting POTUS, running for Barack's third term
The Socialist should cease the attacks, he is undermining Hill
Dem enthusiasm's already low. Like B.B. King, they've lost the thrill
Bernie has done more than expected. We all remember his name
It's time to prove his devotion to the party he never officially claimed

WELCOME DUBBLEDHEE (great pen name !) And thanks for a topical poem and I love the structure (rhyming couplets) and the topic - USA Primaries ! I'm a UK Socialist so I'm for Hillary and in my book anyone is better than the Chump Trump. Although my Bible-belt Republican Friends rea saying they would even JUMP for TRUMP to keep Hillary out of the White House. I like Bernie because SOCIALISM is a dirty word in the USA - BUT - I think that by going a "Bridge too far" he is preventing Hillary for exposing TRUMP for the bigot he is. Like REGAN they will all be 70+ when the axe falls - are there no JFK's left in America. I tell people that America gets the President it deserves God forbid that that ends up as TRUMP ! Watch this space ! BRIAN
Greetings Mr Brian!!
Thanks for your comments. Great to hear the UK's take on American politics. Yes, here in the US Socialism is as publicly popular as Communism. Yet somehow Bernie has an impressive following. Not enough to overtake Hillary, but quite surprising given that he is an unapologetic Socialist. Believe me, Trump does plenty to expose his bigoted tendencies, but his followers see what they want to see and close their eyes to his nonsense. And to your point, Hillary is not popular with everyone. Even long-time Democrats give her the side eye and may stay home or Jump for Trump in November. In all honesty, Hillary gives me reason to pause at times, but a Trump Presidency scares me enough to step out on faith and back Hillary. We'll see what happens. Stay in touch!
