Saying goodbye

itsinthewater

You can curse until the tears don't burn so much anymore. You can kick and you can scream but that's not what change is about.

Change can suck every ounce of strength you have left, it can steal the light from under your skin and leave scratches in its wake.

There is good with the bad but not in times like these, days like this are long and nights that follow are a chalky black that seeps through the walls and chills through the floorboards.

Love, is taken when a person so great is, the liquid fire left only burns within you in a fit of unsightly, raw and bludgeoning rage directed at no one in particular. Is it faults of your own, acts of God?

Who can say? Perhaps that's the root of it all, this cruel, twisted and blackening fate that pulls you from the days where the sun touches your skin and leaves you pale and withered among others who weep a sea you're left to drown in.

It's not a reason still, not to love, for the fear of loss but by truth it cuts like a blade of piercing metal and shatters your walls like a stone on the panes that surround you.

But still, to love them and them to feel loved is a blessing not a curse, the curse is to love so deeply that your heart splits seam by seam as they slip from your fingers, we know it still, the contract is drawn and we sign ourselves to it in a plight for immorality and succession for a passing moment to be met with glory,

sadly glory comes far too soon for some and others are left to dampen their cheeks with the salt of goodbyes.

It is prayer that will meet them in glory with our God.

WELCOME FRIEND - And thank you for a very powerful and poignant first poem. It is something we observe as we progress through life - The greater the love the greater the loss ! The paradox is that the loss makes one love those who remain with us even more. Thinking of you BRIAN
