My Mistake

SheWasTheSun

My mistake, dear friend

I misunderstood

You truly did love me

More deeply than he ever could

My mistake, kind soul

You only wanted the best

For my heart and my mind

But I laid you to rest

My mistake, my love

You found someone new

Who lets you love her fully

And here I am, without a clue

Beautiful nostalgic Love Poem - thanks for sharing. Some of my best poems come when the muse moves in the Night ! Your elegant "free verse" poem has great flow and slips perfectly into a single slender stanza - I love it . I can also empathise with the content and I'm still looking (and lamenting !) at 33 !
