Cold-Hearted

QueenZ Lia Hall

When I first met you, I instantly fell in love with you,

By the second day, I was calling you my boo.

Every was like a dream that we shared,

You rescued me and my heart you spared.

As they say new love is the best love,

You were everything I needed and placed you above.

As time went on you began to change,

The love, respect, and power I had suddenly needed to be rearranged.

You use to show me love and affection and you took it away,

I still cry almost daily, as I remember these days.

Why would you turn so cold towards me?

As I wanted to do everything and especially cater to thee.

You turned my heart into hard ass stone.

And speak to me as if I wasn’t grown.

Sadly to say I am still by your side,

Because I love you and will ride until I die.

Oooooooh LIA - I've had that experience and it is horrible when Love dies or changes. You have described the situation in your poem perfectly ! A dream - new love is best love - and calling him BOO (awesome pet name !) then change. Rearrangement of love - respect - power and even worse withdrawal of love and affection. Real Men do cry and it has caused me to cry as well ! Cold and belittlement what went wrong ? Staying in such a situation (we were not married fortunately - were you ?) is more than I could bear but millions do ! Love the poignany and structure (rhyming couplets) of the poem - Thanks for sharing - Yours BRIAN XOX

I was married, but happily divorced. This was about someone I truly loved. I stayed in the relationship for years because I loved him that much. I asked him to show me and love and affection and he told me that he is not that type of man. It crushed me. But I learned to become a stronger woman from it. Thank you for reading my work. XOXO

Yes, it is hard part of growing up. My poems are from my heart Things that I have never expressed or shared. I will have happier ones when I get out what I need to. This is therapeutic for me. Thank you for your feedback. I always enjoy. xoxo
