The silence of the park
seizes the hour of dusk,
where majestic snow-capped mountains
adjoin the skies of midnight blue,
a halo of light encircles the
quiescent scene illuminating
a child's red jacket left behind
on the end of the slide,
the playground is the sanctuary
of the childhood beginning and ending,
it is where laughing and yelling are
allowed to be especially at midnight
when the spirits of frolicsome adventure
overtake the child in all of us.

AAAAAH YES - I remember it well - when we were young ! The pleasures of the PLAYGROUND - especially when we were still there past closing time - the swings - the whirlygig and especially the slide and yelling with glee as we launched into space like Junior Astronauts. And why not we are (alas) only young and innocent ONCE ! Beautifully crafted "free verse" poem on a beautiful subject ! Anchorage Alaaska - touched by the hand of the LORD ! BRIAN

Lysi, I appreciate your uplifting comment. I lived in Alaska for 32 years before moving to the Treasure Valley of Idaho a few short years ago. You are correct, I do enjoy writing poems about nature. ~ Sonia
Sonia,
Would you describe yourself as an Aesthete or simply a Nature Lover?
And no excuses. We expect more poems for both Alaska & Idaho!

Just call me Mrs. Potpourri. I do have more poetry up my sleeve on Alaska and Idaho. Your enthusiasm is greatly appreciated. ~ Sonia
