How can you treat me the way you do?
All I have done for you and what you constantly put me thru.
I have loved and protected you since day one,
Where is the respect, I’ve taught you better but you don’t have none.
The hurtful things that you say to me every time you are around,
But you mentally, physically, emotionally run me into the ground.
What happened to the precious angel you once were,
But you grew up so fast it all seems like a blur.
Even through all of your anger, I’ve been there and tried to understand,
But your words and actions make my heart feel completely banned.
You are just a little boy, but treat me like a broken man,
I will no longer have your back and you will need to learn how to stand by yourself how ever u can.
I will love you unconditionally as my child you will always be,
But you disrespect has broken me and that is the key.
I have always fought for you when no one else would,
But you will stand alone and fight by yourself as you should.
I tried to fix was broken so many times before,
But you didn’t care you just tried to even the score.
I pray one day that you will see your ways and get back on track.
But you have broken my heart to where it will never be intact.

Oooooooooh LIA - another beautifully structured but sad sad poem. The Mother / Son bond is very complex and my Mum always had great plans for me and still loves me totally 24/7 - that's how Mothers are. I have always respected her but several times I have let her down but we are still close ! I still haven't provided her a grandchild but she does have two from my Sister ! I am still my Mum's precious Angel. How old is your Son ? The things you mention - disrespect - hard words - separation - "You have broken my heart to where it will never be intact - So So Sad. How old is your son ? You are in my thoughts and prayers as ever - Yours BRIAN XOX
Ouch! The heartbreak and terror of forcing yourself to stand back and let your child make their own mistakes. Especially hard for a mother/son or father/daughter bond. It's so hard to say NO to your child. I struggle with my daughter every day on that. At some point we have to trust that we have done our best and the rest is up to them. Blessings to you LIA!
