When a storm is brewing, dark days ahead
Misty clouds that fog your thoughts up inside your head
Rainy days, black bleak thoughts and showers of regret
Wanting to find a warmer place but the depressive beast won't let
Unexpected forecasts but not much lighter rays
Sometimes peeking through the cracks but always goes away
Always dark and miserable, alone and trapped inside
Need a breeze to shift the haze, calming the oceans tide
Brighter days to rise once the clouds do part
Calming storms in yonder, that would be a start
No potential shipwrecks, a voyage set to sail
Destination set in mind, one day to prevail

- Comment from author about the poem: I wrote this after a very hard day with my depression. It summed my feelings up perfectly on this day but I managed to turn those feelings into something poetic and, in my mind, quite beautiful! This is one of my proudest pieces of work!

WELCOME CHARL - Thanks for an excellent first poem from your own experience. Love the structure 3 balanced quatrains each with 2 rhyming doubles. The poem has excellent Rhyme & Rhythm. What you describe resonates with the experiences of friends of mine.! Misty clouds - rainy days - depressive beast. Always dark & miserable alone and trapped inside. I love the optimism in the last stanza ! Brighter days - calming storms - no potetial shipwrecks .......... ONE DAY TO PREVAIL ! Thanks for sharing - BRIAN
