O Nightingale that from your lofty bough
Do sing at eve when all the woods are still
You with fresh hope my loving heart does fill
Will my heart win her love ? Let it be now
Your liquid notes heard 'til the end of day
Last heard before the lone owl's sombre hoot
Portend success of love ~ if God so choose
To link His amorous power to your sweet lay !
Now sweetly sing ere some untimely fate
Would thwart my path of love ~ to your sweet heart
Or once again your song has come too late
Preventing me petals of love to part
To consummate our love we cannot wait
The runes of fate must not thrust us apart !
Thanks for reading ~ Please comment ~ BRIAN

The power of nature to lift ones heart and offer renewed hope ?
Thanks CAMILLE ~ The power of nature in both LIFE & LOVE ~ in my experience ~ is very very powerful ~ YOURS BRIAN
John Milton forgives you,Immortal Poet.
The voice (yours) I hear this passing night was heard
In ancient days by a princess (me) and a monkey 🐵🐒
Thanks LYSI and thanks for JM's forgiveness ! You are (to me) an eternal Princess and I have oft been likened to a Simian. Many poems are paraphrases of former poems but I always try to acknowledge my primary source and a "rhyming sonnet" is the only form to frame my sentiments. I like classical poetic forms. I always appreciate your classical comments ! Yours BRIAN
Beautiful Brian. Reads perfect with clear imagery and wonderful choice words. I write Sonnets but with the a.b.a.b. rhyme scheme.
My two favourite subjects to write about Love and Nature.. how could it not be beautiful.. Pleasure to read and review such fine work..... ...Dee
THANKS DEE ~ For your very encouraging comment ~ Love to read some of your sonnets. Yours BRIAN
