PARROTS HAIKOO ~ OOKIAH STORRAP

BRIAN & ANGELA

Old sick Parrot

sick with malevolent rage

stuck in a dingy cage

Far from jungle green

born to see a tropic sun

that's why he's so glum

Waits for death to come

high up on his perch he sits

and coughs ~ coughs and spits

To cage a Parrot

be he red or be he green

is just damn OBSCENE

  • Comment from author about the poem: I love PARROTS ~ charming and intelligent birds. Having seen their joy and beauty in the wild I think anyone who keeps a Parrot in a cage should be locked up in a cage for life. Do you agree ~ please comment. Love BRIAN

Thanks DARRON ~ most of the poetry on MPS is a bit black & sombre. Good to have a smile now and again ~ pleased you enjoyed it. Yours BRIAN

I so agree Brian, It breaks my heart to see beautiful parrots or any bird caged, and some with hardly enough room to move, truly disgusting.....Your voice came strong in the reading and there is no mistaking your feelings on the subject , the clear imagery of your words and the pic set me off to thinking of all other beautiful creatures that suffer too.. Bravo for making your stand on this one my friend.......Dee

Thanks DEE for your very empathetic comment on my cri de coeur for POLLY ! The worst captive animals are the big cats especially TIGERS. They "prowl" so melancholy in their cages. I've only seen LIONS in the wild (South Africa) and they are so so majestic. Yours BRIAN

When we are caged it's called punishment, yet we still cage animals for our own entertainment! A very witty way of conveying the message, really enjoyed it!

THANKS DANIEL ~ A little wit can ameliorate a serious message ~ DON'T FENCE ME IN ! Yours BRIAN
