Disillusion

lescobar

The line gets blurry, wrong is right

Hollowness and emotion spill blood into the fire we call life

The heartbeat of the world fades away

Flames scorch the known and darkness swallows the sky, innocence has left

Punishment and forgiveness shake the scale

Colors dull, the bottle tips, numbness vibrates to oblivion

Expectations distort the truth

Emotion is imprisoned by a cloud of nothingness, chains clang

God has tripped and fallen from grace

The switch is flipped but the bulb grows cold, hope leaps out the eighth story ledge

Yet the splatter goes unnoticed

Eruptions fill the eternal night sky like flares for the damaged

A single tree is struck ablaze

The frigid wind extinguishes the light, a breath to the candle

Pretenders spread disillusion

Dark eyes open but nothing changes, there is no escape from fate

WELCOME ~ Thanks for an excellent first poem. Beautiful in form but tragic in content ! However as I read it ~ I thought yes Life is often like that especially in England at the present time. We are out in the Wilderness ~ Politically and Sportwise ! Yours BRIAN
