Loneliness is like a giant’s crushing strength.
The jagged rocks in the sombre shore length,
Where the tumultuous waves crash with madness.
Loneliness is like the London still fog,
Loneliness is like stagnant putrid water.
A bitter bottle of wine in the gutter,
Drunkenness of spirit because the grog.
Loneliness is like a weight dragging down,
Loneliness is like starvation in a drought.
Aimlessly looking beyond the doubt,
Always wondering when would the end be found.
Loneliness you had snared me, but I’m free
From the sorrowful weeping in the long nights,
the racing of thoughts filled with hopeless sighs;
Loneliness you are a beaten enemy in defeat.

Thank you!
GRACIAS RR ~ Loneliness is a "black dog" and hard to bear. We all need friends and companionship. It is amazing hat one can be lonely (I've been lonely too) on a Planet with 7.5 billion humans or worse still in a City like London with 12 million people. People have died in big cities and lain rotting for a month in their room until someone discovered them ~ appalling. Thanks for sharing ~ nice structure ~ sad topic ! BRIAN
Your reply is both poignant and poetic, Brian—and so true!
Thank you Brian. Your comments are incisive. I enjoy them!
I like the entire Poem but this is my favorite stanza...
"Loneliness is like the London still fog,
Loneliness is like stagnant putrid water.
A bitter bottle of wine in the gutter,
Drunkenness of spirit because the grog."
Just terrific!

So true
you have a talent for words, making one feel and see what you are writing. The last four lines tugged at my heartstrings. Loved it!
