What I want is something that makes me want to open my mind at dawning
The type of emotion that drives the heart to be more selfless and worthy
I yearn for the smile that wakes my soul from years of unrest
The pursuit of this feeling swallows my attention - incessant
Leaving me wandering, pacing somewhat aimlessly
But yet, verily, persistently, obsessively seeking what I know is meant for me
Although, it's oblivious to my need for its presence, and so I sink
Where can I get this kind of love?
The laugh that will warm my chilly bones from sorrow's winter
An embrace that will cure my longing for the slightest of embers
The fire that was once an inferno, seemingly lost forever
Knowing better, only this can ignite what's been lost and tattered
Will it ever return to me? Or am I destined to admire these memories from afar?
But yet, verily, persistently, obsessively seeking what I know is meant for me
Although, it's oblivious to my need for its presence, and so I scream
Where can I get this kind of love?

WELCOME CM ~ Thanks for your first poem. Love the style urgent flowing "free verse" and the subject ~ your desire for your "Perfect Love" ! A laugh that makes you warm ~ an embrace that will cure your longing ~ an inferno ~ wanting what you once had. I'm single (33) and have experienced the highs and lows of love so I can empathise. The "kind of love" you seek does exist and it's never too late for love. I suppose what I'm looking for is all the best qualities of Male / Female love I've experienced embodied in one perfect Lady ~ I dream on ! Thanks for sharing ~ BRIAN
Wonderful write
