Arrival of the night
Didn't you tell me the sun never sets
Once the only heart you'd ever collect
Is safely in your hands
Is the key to your plans
Well your tiptoeing out of the door
Well your slowly breaking my trust
And if I am to be cast adrift
Then you could make holes at least
Arrival of the night, slowly I cry
Arrival of the night, secretly I die
Arrival of the night, take yourself away
Arrival of the night, I'm broken by dark
How slowly your conscious catches up
I didn't mean to be the weight that dragged
You down to places you feared
No one ever put the chains on you
Arrival of the day you finally walked away
How I wish I could never find words to say
Giving up was the one thing I'd never trade
Slowly your conscious catches up
From this nightmare we both wake up
Arrival of the night, slowly I cry
Arrival of the night, secretly I die
Arrival of the night, take yourself away
Arrival of the night, I'm broken by dark

WELCOME THOL ~ Thanks for your first poem. It is very well written six neat quatrains pulsating with rhyme and rhythm. The structure suits the subject ~ progressive loss of love and your lover. It is something we all experience as we move through life and love. Writing (and reading) about it is cathartic and I hope you found it so. Your final stanza mirrors my experience.Arrival of the night ~ slowly i cry ~ secretly I die ~ take yourself away ~ I'm broken by the dark. Every blessing ~ thanks for sharing ~ Yours BRIAN
