Expectations

Eeva

People expect me to be great,

They expect me to do it right,

They expect me to get it 100%,

And if I don't, they'll stare and gasp.

They expect me to know things,

When no one really does,

They think I am perfect,

Which is very much a lie.

They expect great things from me,

When I don't really know,

That all I want to do,

Is to live my life as far as it can go.

They don't know that I just want to live,

Live life free of anything big,

Just to be happy in a life that is mine,

Without any expectations.

Thank EVA ~ Great Expectations ~ from our Parents ~ Siblings ~ Teachers ~ Employers can encourage us but they also put us under stress ! Like you I always give my best but it doesn't always live up to others expectations. I give talks in public places on once I overheard somebody say ~ We are in for a treat its BRIAN talking about Marie Curie and Radioactivity. It went well but their comment made me realise they had "Great Expectations". A very nice poem by the way (met my expectations !) thanks for sharing ~ BRIAN

Expectations, yes we all have them, but like you said, "Just to be happy in a life that is mine" is what matters. I liked the poem, and like Brian said, it met my expectations. Thanks for the poem.
