My Daddy

bubbaj1s

As I sit here all teary-eyed,
For my father, I've cried and cried.
For he is with us on earth no more,
But has walked through heavens door.
The man he was, I wish to be,
But the shoes he wore, are too big for me.
The heart he had, the love he showed,
The warm feelings on everyone, that he bestowed.
Everyone that knew him, loved having him around.
Our heavenly father, has now given him his crown.
I know, again one day, he I will see.
And when that day comes, I will be filled with glee.
But until that day comes, I'll wait anxiously,
For my daddy again, I long to see.

WELCOME BUBBA ~ Thank you for an excellent first poem straight from your grieving heart. I still have my Father but I can emphasise because it resonates with the day I learned my Grandad had been called home to Glory ! You express powerful memories of your Dad and acknowledge though his mantle has fallen on you ~ you are still too young to walk in his shoes. I am pleased that you acknowledge that he "ran a good race" and has recieved his "Crown of Righteousness" from His God. Also the assurance that one day ~ when God calls you home ~ you will be reunited with your beloved Daddy once again. Beautiful poem of sentiment and assurance. Thanks for sharing ~ BRIAN

Thanks Brian. I have never been one to write poems. The day my dad died, i wanted to be alone for a while. I wanted to express my feelings, but didn't want to talk to anyone. I sat in my recliner, opened up the memo app on my phone, and I started to type. This is what I ended up with.
