You knew she was hurting yet you still left
The tears, the blood, the pain killed so she wept
You never looked back to say goodbye
You just packed up and left and left her to die
She cried and she screamed and begged you please
You said you still love her then why did you leave
After a year she sent you a letter
She told you she couldn't get any better
You blew her off for a couple of days
Little did you know it was too late
you never believed her he said she was lying
Turns out she's dying and you're the one crying

WELCOME LISA ~ Thank you for a powerfully written but very sad first poem. Rhyming couplets give the poem flow and make it interesting to read and recite. The subject happens and it is so tragic when a partner rejects their lover just when they need them most. Often people are in denial about the true situation. Your final line is very haunting "Turns out she's dying and you're the one crying. A friend of mine was deserted by his Wife of 20 years after he had a stroke. He's OK but five years later he is still single and lonely while she has a new partner. Life can be cruel ~ Thanks for caring and sharing ~ BRIAN
