Without the Trees ~ no place for
Birds to build their nests and sing
No awesome Autumn fruits or nuts
No blossom in the Spring !
No WILLOW for our cricket bats
No PINE for poles or kitchen doors
No OAK to furnish our new flats
No HARDWOOD parquet for our bedroom floors !
Each separate Tree was first by GOD designed
And then by horticulturists refined
I think that I shall never see
A thing as lovely as a TREE !

- Comment from author about the poem: Like so many of God's gifts on Planet Earth we take trees for granted ! We clear our woodlands and replace them with concrete and Tescos ad forget to replant. Trees are the lungs of our Planet they breath in carbon dioxide and breath out oxygen. The Animals do the opposite so we work symbiotically to maintain the CO2 level in equilibrium. Fewer Trees means higher CO2 increased global warming. I am a Plastics Scientist so I am aware that WOOD is a fibre (CELLULOSE) reinforced thermosetting resin (LIGNIN) so as a Plastics Chemist I just think God's thoughts after Him. On the same way WOOL is protein (polypeptide) and NYLON (synthetic wool) has the same Chemical Structure. Natural Rubber (latex) is an organic polymer (poly cis-isoprene) so is synthetic rubber. So the synthetic plastics industry is based on the chemical structures GOD designed in all our Natural Products. The same is true of medicines ~ dyestuffs ~ metallurgy etc THINKING GOD'S THOUGHTS AFTER HIM ! The Man who says there is no Creator God is a FOOL ! Love BRIAN XOX

Thanks WILLY pleased you liked it. Beacsue GOD created us as H Sapiens He gave us free will and an infinite BRAIN to distinguish from the rest of the animal who are preprogrammed ! We are therefore able to be faithful to GOD or to follow SATAN. Because only a minority of the Human race are true believers in the one true God ~ Gods gift of Planet Earth (the only living Planet ?) is abused and polluted. But God is SOVEREIGN and will win in the end and SATAN will be destroyed ~ AMEN ~ BRIAN
I love trees! Nicely written. I have recently been watching british tv and discovered the meaning of flats. I like that you incorporated it in the poem.
GRACIAS JUAN ~ For an encouraging comment. You can learn a lot from British TV. Flats are economical because they take up less space ~ the USA is 40 times bigger that the UK and each American has eight times more space ! Flats are cheap and compare heat ~ but not as nice to live in as a DETACHED house ~ where you are King of your own Castle ! BRIAN
Yes true, guess flats would by ideal for one or two people.
Beautiful poem Brian. God designed the tree, knowing that it would be through the cross that man would be redeemed.
