Morning stars

daniel dawes

I gaze up at the morning stars,
And the half crescent smiling moon,
Sun just below the horizon line,
Its hazy glow can already be seen.

Silhouetted trees sit at the brow of the hill,
As the hedgerows come to life,
The shadowed trees look windswept and weary,
Even though there's little breeze.

The birds begin their morning salute,
As I stretch and do mine,
The dawns about to break,
I feel humbled and honored for the time.

The sun peaks over the hills in front,
And for a moment it all melts away,
I squint and feel its caring warmth,
Earth's shifting shadows are at play.

The stars in the sky slowly fade,
I look to the dew dropped grass,
As it glistens in the sun,
Like a world turned upside down.

Millions of spiders cast their line,
Hoping to catch the morning breeze,
Hundreds of birds sing their song,
And not another human around but me.

THANKS DAN ~ for a perfect poem ! For me Mornings are always special. Stars ~ fading Moon (love the visual !). Trees ~ bird ~ Sun and of course the ubiquitous spiders ! Nice poem to wake up to ~ thanks for sharing ~ BRIAN

Thanks DAN I'm a morning person ~ especially at the weekends (I like to make Saturday & Sunday as long as possible !) I also get up very early when I'm on holiday ~ things are very different (especially in the Country) before 5 am. Please check my poem EBONY GIRL ~ not a fantasy ~ BRIAN

Great write. My favorite part of living in the Country is seeing the early morning stars when I get up

            Daniel,
I enjoyed reading this ONE, especially your detailed descriptions of the nature.🐛🐜🍂
            Here is a different approach:

            I am optimistic
When you rise at the right time
            In the East.

            I feel blessed
When you set at the right time
            In the West.

            I am not unhappy
When you shine at the wrong time
            In the West.

            I feel cursed
When you fall at the wrong time
            In the East.

I feel like a World turned Upside Down.🌍🌏

            Thanks for the Inspiration...
