Where were you to kiss me goodbye when I started PreK
Where were you to tuck me in at the end of each day
The times that I needed you, you were never there
Which led me to believe that you really didn't care
As time flew by I was in the seventh grade
You came to my mothers house but I knew you wouldn't stay
I was at band practice when I got the call
I knew that when you left you'd take it all
My heart, my soul and even a piece of my mind
My tears and my sorrow were the only things left behind
As high school graduation came you said you couldn't make it
I was bummed that day but I knew I had to fake it
I am an adult now and I should be treated like one
I am a strong independent women now, thanks to all you've done
Dad, where were when I met the guy of my dreams?
I've wanted to tell you that he is so good to me
All I know now is that God watches from above
He knows all I've ever wanted was my own fathers love
