A match is struck,
A candle lit,
is it for hope,
or sadness,
Meaning unknown,
with that,
one thing is sure
It will light the way,
for someone,
the flame flickers,
the darkness pushes,
trying to take over,
the fear is real,
The fear of the unknown,
fear of the dark,
of what is hiding,
lurking in wait,
The fear is always there,
waiting to take over,
seize control,
crush you,
the light flickers,
goes out,
or,
was it ever lit?

loved ending-but was it ever lit
WELCOME FRANCES ~ Thank you for a challenging poem. All our lives are a mixture of light and shade ~ joy and fear. Just the light from one candle can dispel the gloom as I have found in situations without electricity or gas on tap. We need strength and faith in theae dark times. I always light a candle in Church as a perpetual prayer for those in need. Thanks for caring and sharing ~ BRIAN
