When Life is Bliss

abi2511

Sinking, sinking, slowly into the mushy, moist grass.
The wind swept the smell of dampness to my nose.
It wasn't pleasant nor was it unpleasant.
Blinded by the sun that was shining through the trees,
I swiped my hand along a prickly bush as I walked past to guide myself.
It hurt. My eyes from the brightness and the thorns were grazing my skin.
It didn’t bother me, I was relishing the warmth.
Nothing could be heard apart from wind and the occasional vehicle.
I drained the remainder of my iced coffee, it was sweet
and life was bliss.

WELCOME ABI ~ Thanks for a very descriptive and emotive first poem ! I could scent the grass ~ feel the Sun ~ feel the thorn and taste the cold sweetness of the iced coffee ~ it was blissful ! A good oem should engage all the senses and this one did ! It had rhythm and is a good example of a modern "free verse" poem. Yours BRIAN. Please check my Poems ~ Thanks B
