Desperate

elphaba993

I could drink a thousand drinks

Eat a million meals

Brush my teeth from now until forever

But nothing will ever get the taste of you

Out of my mouth...

And the worst part is

I let you

And now

Even though you say no one will know,

I still do.

And I have to feel the weight

Of the guilt

And the shame

Forever

Because desperate times

Call for desperate measures

And I would demean myself

A million times over

To ensure that my daughter is okay

And that I can provide for her.

So I'll just push down the guilt and shame

Carry them deep down in my soul

And fake that smile

Because that's all I can do.
