I Churn Cream To Make Butter

I Churn Cream To Make Butter

I churn cream to make butter

Twistin, pullin, rockin, sweatin,

Thinkin, lickin, tastin, checkin,

And Feelin!

Feelin the cream.

Feelin the excitement in chirren's eyes.

Feelin that I done done somethin.

Feelin tired and good.

There's more to churnin than churnin.

I churn for everythin!

  • Comment from author about the poem: This is one of the few poems I have written that came to me in it's entirety in minutes without making any changes. Usually I have to work hours on a poem, put it aside and come back to it days or a week later to rewrite or tweak in some way. "Chirren" is a colloquial spelling of children and was common in the Southern USA at the time of the writing.
