Sweet death
Out beyond the pine-woods
The grass grows lush and deep
There in the little meadow
Is where I long to sleep
Below the great white stars of hemlock flower’s
As the nightingale sings his song
And the cold crystal moon looks down
He sings it all night long
The yew-tree spreads out its giant arms
To embrace the sleeper’s fear
No yesterdays or tomorrows
Time is forgotten here
Forgiving life to be at peace
Forgetting all our sin
Hearing only the sound of silence
And the sighing of the wind
Forever Love is with us
Forever love is near
Love is coming with us
Oh sweet death we shall not fear

I've missed you WILLY ~ love the rhyme and folksy rhythm in this one ! Blessed in the sight of the LORD is the passing over to Glory of his SAINTS ! Thanks for sharing. Please check my POEMS ~ BRIAN
You did? I been out traveling the rocky mountains , soaking in the hot springs
amid the purple mountains, but as always it's good to be back home. Brian I thank you for your comments and I will check you out in the coming days.
thanks again~ peace ww
Very comforting.
Thanks so much! I appreciate that! ww
You had me a little worried with both poisons,Hemlock and Yew. Your poem approaches death with thoughts of love and no trepidation, nor violence. Very heart warming and peaceful.
Thank You kind Sir; for your thoughts and comments. peace ww
Wow awesome rhyme scheme here. U make death sound peaceful and appealing with this poem in great muse and imagery but don't die on us yet as we need your fine poetry since u have great talent which I can find out by reading but a single poem of a poet. Kudos.
very nice of you to say that! I appreciate your comments. ww
