Crafty Bird

We were on holidays when I first heard
About this smart, witty and crafty bird
The poolside barman said "mark my word"
When I said it was ridiculous, quite absurd

The bird was colorful but mainly pink
Would fly down and sip on your drink
So bloody quick you had no time to think
Back up in the tree then, quick as a wink

I'd had a few drinks and I was starting to stutter
Told the barman he was mad, a bit of a nutter
Rain came from nowhere and the bird was aflutter
He landed on my glass and I did cough and sputter

So fast he was, twas nothing that I could possibly do
He grabbed my cocktail umbrella and away he flew
I'd been drinking all day and I admit I'd had a few
He sat there under an umbrella, I wouldn't lie to you

Rain was tumbling down, people running hell for leather
Amazing how fast it came really, the change in weather
Most of the birds were hiding or bunching up together
But not him, he was bone dry, not one ruffled feather

Some called the bird clever, others sneaky and sly
But he couldn't care less and he was completely dry
I looked up, shook my fist and called him a wise guy
Smart dam bird gave a chirp and shit right in my eye
