Nothing is quite so universal as hope,
And nothing is quite so divisive.
Everyone experiences it,
But never in the same way.
Hope is projected uniquely from every person.
It runs operates at the opposite of success,
The hardest situations produce hope stronger, and stronger.
When someone has nothing,
A great number of truths are revealed.
We are never tested when things are easy,
Only when everything falls apart can we show our true nature.
Only then can we be Courageous, and bold,
And express strength beyond anything we could’ve imagined.
Light,
Light is the guide through physical darkness,
Just as hope guides through the darkness of our own reality.
In our days, finding light is simple and unnecessary.
But when we fall on dark times,
It becomes critical to locate a beacon to survive.
Now this is easier said than done.
Sure, in life you can turn on a lamp,
Within our minds things are not so simple.
This not the flicking of a switch,
Instead it becomes about lighting a fire.
One that can burn to keep us fighting,
To keep us believing,
To keep us hoping.
Even when we have nothing.
No possessions.
No pride.
No support.
This is when hope becomes our strongest ally.
Because at that point it's all we have.
That’s the point that makes or breaks us.
Here you are left with a choice:
You can fight.
You can battle.
You can stand up against the entire world and nothing will stop you.
Or you can run.
Live to fight another day.
Either way hope will still lead you.
They say eyes are the window to the soul.
You say all you see is darkness.
You ask if there is even any point to it all.
You’re unable to see your own beauty.
But from my perspective,
I see your eyes quite differently.
I see the fire that burns through the darkness.
I see your purpose and determination.
I see your elegance and looks.
I see the hope that still lies within you.
From here the path is not easy.
Some days will be bad,
Others worse.
And the only way to carry on,
Is to carry our hope.

A very poignant write....great job
Thank you. That means a lot
WELCOME BROWN ~ Thanks for your very elegantly penned first poem. It pulsates with rhythm and it flows which facilitates reading and reciting which is the hallmark of a good poem.. HOPE springs eternal in the human breast and there froe (as you say) when all else is lost there is still a glimmer of HOPE. In the film TIMELESS ~ John Cleese (when all seems evading hin) says "Its the HOPE I can't stand" persomnally having been in some tight cornesr ~ I say THANK GOD FOR HOPE ~ And Faith and Love of course ! Thanks for caring BRIAN
