Just a Dream

JustABird

I watched you walk away

I watched you leave that day

and run to hold another in your arms

I watched my whole world drown

Watched it turn upside down

Because when you went away, you did me harm

Now, I want you

I need you

to feel you next to me

I want you

to hold you

so I know it's just a dream

I watched you turn your eyes

to see her pretty smile

you didn't even glance back at me

I watched you hold her hand

I couldn't understand

why you threw away all that we could be

And now I want you

I need you

to feel you next to me

I want you

to hold you

so I know it's just a dream

I call but you don't hear me

I cry but you don't care

and anytime you're near me

you pretend like I'm not there

and I know you know

that I want you

I need you

to feel you next to me

I want you

to hold you

so I know it's just a dream

Please

won't you tell me it's a dream.

  • Comment from author about the poem: It's actually a song I wrote a while ago. Maybe if I get enough courage I'll put it up on Soundcloud and link it.

Thanks for sharing JAB ~ Great poem ~ Great song ~ Great pathos. Trust you found it cathartic ~ It made me quite sad because in these circumstances 9 times out of 10 it's not a DREAM ~ Yours BRIAN

I 'd Love to hear it 'performed'
I think there is a need for"loss" to be a cagegory.

    • JustABird

yes! "Loss" should definitely be a category. And I don't have the voice to record it yet because I have a cough I can't get rid of. Maybe one day...
