Nowhere to go...
Nowhere to go but down, the hands of regret forcing me closer
I strain and try to avoid my fate
Nowhere to go but down, weight of guilt drags me toward the edge
I stumble and slip, but hate picks me up
Nowhere to go but down, the wind of time making me unsteady
I try to resist but weakness shoves me forth
Nowhere to go but down, fear urging and calling me onward
The steel beneath my foot doesn’t want me to leave
Nowhere to go but down, as I realise what I’ve done
I finally turn but it’s too late
Nowhere to go but down, as cold, grey rushes ever closer
And the bridge fades into the fog
Nowhere to go now
And all I can say, I’m sorry
Nowhere to go but up, if I sleep I know I won’t wake
If I could have stopped I would
But I didn’t know what mistake I’d make
I should have stopped and stayed
But my heart saw that I’d swayed
Nowhere to go...
