Twenties sad thoughts.

mariannebmo

In your twenties and alone

You scroll and scroll along your phone

A weird sad prickle in your heart,

Seeing how happy others are.

In your twenties and alone

Nobody waiting as you get home

A text here or message there,

Grants your soul a surge of air.

It hurts you more when you're alone

In your twenties, inside your phone

You thought it would be easier

Living this life, you thought you'd love.

Watching the birds from your sad dark desk

Remembering school days, as the best?

And every morning you want to die,

Knowing you'll only watch others fly.

Ohhhhhhhhh MARIANNE (lovely name) I hope tis is not too autobiographical ? Thanks for sharing~ lovely structure ! 20 lines ~ 5 quatrains ~ rhyming couplets BUT such a ad lament ! I'm 33 now and I remember my 20's ~ It was lonely sometimes waiting for MISS RIGHT being let down and sometimes letting others down because the "chemistry" was not right. I'm still single but my relationships are smoother than 10 years ago ! I can empathise ~ Thanks for sharing ~ more lease ! Yours BRIAN

          • mariannebmo

Yes I think people are dropping off the radar as I've got older, can be hard, feeling quite nostalgic lately!

i think we all visit that place, often.

            • LIGHT WARRIOR

When people drop off the radar in pour lives, its actually a gift from our higher power telling us that we need to make room for more influential energies in our lives...if you wanna be popular, be specific and ask and it will return..trust me...great work on your poem..hope to see more soon
