I am that jigsaw piece that never quite fits with the others
The piece that could be just as beautiful as the others if it wasn't a little damaged
I am that piece you try so hard to force it to fit
I am the piece that tries so hard to fit myself
I am the piece you will bend and damage further just so it can fit in with your idea of beautiful.
I am that piece that you will look at with disgust because I am not what you want.
I am that piece that will never fit and will never shine in the way it wants.
I am that piece who will be cussed at and blamed for being this way
I am that piece who never wanted to be this way in the first place

- Comment from author about the poem: I've suffered from depression and anxiety for most my life now, this was just a quick poem that came to me. It's my first one and certainly not perfect but, I just wanted to write it down somewhere.

WELCOME LISA # Love your poem and the song and the video ~ Thanks for sharing. None of us is perfect ~ but like you I try to fit in often unsuccessfully ~ but I dust myself down and look for another Jigsaw where i can be the perfect piece. The are two elements tio a good poem one uis the structure and the otyher is the content. I love the structure of your "free verse poem" and the repetition. The fact that almost every line begins ~ I AM THAT PIECE ~ gives it rhythm and great PERSONAL POWER.! YOU really are "THAT PIECE" ! The content is excellent (although rather sad) because it tells us exactly how YOU feel ! Thinking of you 24/7 I hope and pray things will improve. Thanks for sharing ~ I trust you found it CATHARTIC ~ more poems please ~ Yoiurs BRIAN ~ (UK)
