Clowns with Frowns

WriteBeLight

What’s up with this?

What’s really going down?

I want to shake my fist.

These crazies dressed as Clowns.

Clowns are to be funny,

Giggle, laugh and smile.

Not wielding machetes.

Acting twisted, vile.

Horrid Harlequins seen,

On the campus grounds.

Terrify kids in Dorms,

Dudes with bloody frowns.

Haunters armed with weapons.

Try to terrorize.

Just a Circus reject?

Horrid painted eyes.

Make-up their face.

Vivid ugly silly,

Giving people nightmares,

Horrors and the willies.

Just put an end,

To all of their antics.

Find them better friends,

Knock off creating panic.

So, you crazy Bozos,

Wipe off your frightful paint.

Stop getting enjoyment,

From making people faint.

The tin toy with spring,

Stuff inside and lock.

Break the crank that turns,

Keep Jack in the Box.

GREAT POEM WBL ~ Highlighting a modern menace. Clowns have always been a little odd ~ happy and sad ~ funny and morose ~ friendly and menacing ! There always wierdos who will exploit any chance to scare and intimidate ! I agree PUT JACK BACK IN HIS BOX ~ lock it and throw away the key ! BRIAN

Growing up I thought the clown was a universally accepted figure. Only later did I realize it ain't so. Even those that really try hard to be funny have a certain tragedy about them. The last 4 lines are my favorites.

That is what I always thought, especially as portrayed in movies, like the one with James Stewart as the doctor hiding behind the clown face in "The Greatest Show on Earth". It is surprising how so many people today do not like them. Thanks for the comments.
