Lady of the Night

Elegant_Style

Her steps are soft and slow,
the ravens in her hair
darken the stars
in her passing,
and the moon
hides its face
from the vengeful beauty
of the Night Queen.

LADIES OF THE NIGHT ~ NIGHT WORKERS
*****************************************
The night is always replete with creatures
Some MYSTICAL ~ Some MYTHICAL ~ Some very real
The Ladies of the Night are everywhere !
Some in menial roles ~ Waitresses ~ Bar Girls
Cruopiers ~ some Cleaners and some working alongside Men
On the nightshift in factories ~ bakeries etc.
Women (of the Day & Night) wanted equality ~ and now
They've got it with a vengence ~ Anything a Man of the Night
Can do a Lady of the Night can do better for less pay !
But there are some things only a Lady can do
And for those services Foolish Men pay much too heavily !

She remains a mystery as to
why she walks there each evening.
Some say she lost a lover.
    Others remember a child.
    She appears forever searching.
    I've never seen her smile.

This is a pretty great poem. I really like how the woman of the night remains unrevealed.
