Learning to dance

Mills

Dance – because you want to

Because you feel the urge

Give in to the urge

Dance

Let your mind rest a while

Take no notice of the world

Stare in to the space beyond what is and what could be,

To what it should be

Do not close your eyes

This moment is not to be missed

Look around and dance

Love your urges

We are defined by them

Own it and dance

You are not unique nor different

You are brave

It is you who shapes this world

Defines it from within

Bearing the hurt

You learn to dance.

I swayed in the breeze

Moving without looking

I learnt to smile

Because you held my hand

You encouraged me

And I am awaken

But my eyes are still shut

I move to the music

I dance

My eyes stay shut

I am not ready yet but I know I will be

And with that hope, I dance

And for that you love me and hold me closer.

Thanks for your comments. I wrote this reminiscing how in a relationship the two might not be on the same footing or same rhythm when dancing, it takes time to harmonise. I have simply recollected how my partner waited with patience and supported me while we harmonised and danced.
