T  EDDY  BEARS are everywhere

E  VERYONE loves Teddy Bears

B  ROWN  or Golden ~ White or Pink

B  LUE  for boys withh eyes that wink

Y  OUR BEAR ~ My Bear always there !

 

B  EARS  in the wild can be quite scary

E  YES  enormous paws and hairy

A  Teddy Bear is always cute

R  ESPLENDENT in his coat or suit

S  O  I never give a care ~ with my Teddy Bear

  • Comment from author about the poem: TEDDY ROOSEVELT (US PRESIDENT 1901 ~ 1909) refused to shoot a sickly Bear (on a bear hunt) and had it put down humanely. A cartoon was published (see picture) and a Lady in Brooklyn made stuffed Bears and asked Roosevelt if she could call them TEDDY BEARS. About the same time (1903) MARGARET STEIFF in Germany began making golden stuffed bears and these were also called TEDDY BEARS and still are over 100 years later !
